NaNoWriMo – Week 4

That’s right – week 4! and you will notice from my Week 3 post how things are going. What? No Week 3 post. Yeah – about that. Week 3 here at NaNoWriMo HQ, week three was a rough week. Not just for writing. I have the ideas. No problem there. Time has been an issue. When I have it it is either first thing in the morning pre-coffee, which would result in writing similar to “Dick & Jane” or at the very end of the night where I have spent the evening thinking about the lack of work I am doing. That would result in overly dark things in my book. And in a way that would be bad.

SO, that being said. I am behind on word count. For some, the movement is linear. The need to accomplish the 1,667 words a day. Not me, No that is the easy way! I am going for the “HOLY SHIT! I only have seven days left!” method and writing like crazy. When? Got me? I think my boss will find my work slightly slower this week (he knows I am doing this and is a good sport). I am hoping for a big finish. I know I can do it. I work better in most things (truthfully) in bursts. I have never been one to divide everything into equal chunks and to things that way. I think, for me, it makes the work feel uninspired. That is me. Some people work much better that way and the stress of “all at once” overwhelms them. I get inspired and focused by it.

stress

So- recap.

  1. I am behind, I am off the mark by about 50%.
  2. I work better in bursts – and as I mentioned in my very first post – am very deadline driven
  3. There may be extra profanity as a result

So, you say – why are you writing a post instead of writing you book. Good question. Got me. Seemed like a good idea. Maybe it is like a warm up exercise. Hey – that’s the ticket. This is a warm-up. BAM!
