A New Look?
I was getting a little bored with the site and decided to try out a new look. Is it done? NOPE. If I stick with this - and I am not sure I am - I still have to do the links and Photos section.
I think I am going to keep this. But I need to add more “stuff” . I am working on it. Have to see what I decide. I like how clean it is and really like how a single post displays.
What do you think? Too bland? perhaps - but I kinda like the really minimal thing going on. Too GREY - maybe. Too business like - maybe again.
So any way - what do you think??
UPDATE: OK I have taken some of the recommendations into consideration. Some of which were helpful (the menu “issues” - thanks Scott and Joel) and some of which were logical (front page entries - Mike). What I have decided upon is a hybrid of the original concept. Instead of 2 excerpts on the front page, I now have it so that the 2 most recent entries are displayed in full and the older 3 are displayed as excerpts. It can breaks the convention of “posts” and gives it a different feel.
I plan on working on the menu to give it some more pizzaz and may add an area with some “randomness” to it. The jury is still out on that.
MORE UPDATES I have added a color “chooser” now. You can enjoy the site in WHITE or BLACK now. Simply choose your favorite color scheme in the upper right. I may add more colors later.

Upgrade to Wordpress 2.0
The wordpress team released version 2.0 of the software about 3 weeks ago and I have been watching to see if anything popped up. No problems I saw. SO I went ahead with it. So far, so good. Only a couple plugins do not work and I am sure that revisions will be issued soon.

Graphic Headlines take a break
I have removed the graphical headlines, really to improve the search results for Google and Yahoo. It is not a bandwidth concern on my end. But to others, it maybe.

New Feed on feed page: joMbe.com
I added a new feed to the feeds page from joMbe.com. You may ask what is joMbe? Is it Gumby’s cousin? An African beetle? Perhaps a new sport drink? You have to visit to find out.
You may notice a change as well. The portal is now feeds, as that is really what it is. Also the “credits” link has been removed from the navigaiton. It still appears in the footer of the page.

Long Time, No Posting
OK I know I have not posted anything in a while. A quick recap you ask? OK
Server Issues
Our webhost ran an upgrade on the 7th that shut down the mail features of Wordpress. After trying to address this at the script level it became clear that the problem was not the script, had to be the server. I opened a support ticket with their technical support group. They made a modification to user rights and POOF email returns. GREAT. Oh wait - now a WHOLE BUNCH of other scripts are failing. HMMM………More tickets. They offer solutions, none of them work. I finally say switch it back, I live without email notification. Well, they can’t do that. UGH. So one tech offersto take the time and change the ownership and privledges for out whole site. That fixed it. It took 4 days to get that sorted out. They almost lost a customer as a result.Work
The office is hectic. We are getting very close to our move, there is a new sales staff that is hungry, we have production deadlines that are missing and I am still doing all the IT admin work in addtion. Hopefully things will pick up enough soon that we can bring in an additional IT person, preferably a Graphic Artist. I would prefer spending my time on Web and the IT work.Christmas Shopping
We are nearly done. And it was done in one quick foul swoop on Amazon. I love Amazon Prime. I should have everything right before Thanksgiving. We have 4 or 5 more gifts to get and then we are done. Most of those are responses I am waiting on for ideas for gifts. The only thing about Amazon Prime that I dislike is that it has made me jaded to shipping costs. I even passed on an item, that was a great price, because it was through one of the third party vendors on Amazon. It was going to cost $6.50 to ship it and I just felt ripped off by that.Holiday Parties
The invites are coming in and so far we are looking good to make it to all of them. It should be fun! I hate when you get invited to too many or at times when something else is going on (see Work above).Nigel Countdown
It appears that we are down to days until Scott and Marcia will have a bouncing baby boy. Maybe he will make it for Thanksgiving, maybe we will be having turkey in the hospital. Either way, I only hope for a smooth uneventful delivery and a healthy Nigel and Marcia (ok and Scott too, but he has the easy part here).Brews and Book Club
We had our intial meeting a week ago and I would say it was a success. Thanks to Scott for hosting It was a blast. We will hopefully get together soon for the next chapter. Up next on our reading list - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Check out the page at Scooter Chronicles about it.Thursday, September 8th, 2005

I wil be making improvements and as of now it is in order added. I will hopefully revise it so that it can be in order desired. Possibly even a CD, BOOKS, and DVD sections.

OOPS! - UPDATE
I updated my Wordpress files and did the DUMB act of NOT backing up my theme. LOL. I have it at home (I hope). Until then, I guess we will chill with this.
UPDATE I had MOST of the theme at home. That is good. I recovered the bit of CSS I needed from a cache of Google’s page of it. Thanks Google!
