Book Review: The Power of Less by Leo Babauta

The Power Of Less: The Fine Art of Limiting Yourself to the Essential The Power Of Less: The Fine Art of Limiting Yourself to the Essential by Leo Babauta

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book is split into 2 parts, a philosophy or approach to life/work and then a second half of actions to put it in place.

I have been looking for a book on organization/work flow for some time that I related to and found a connection to and a sense of “OF COURSE!”. This book did it for me. I had looked into Getting Things Done and tried to implement some of them. I kept “Getting things done in my organization system” and not in the real world.

This book is a summary and distillation of the frequent advice and habits from Zen Habits. The focus is on simple productivity. I liked and really found an attachment to the ideas expressed, as it combined a “Getting Things Done” mentality with a goal oriented motivation strategy and simple approach. The book and Zen Habits strive for “Simple Productivity”. I think if you could implement all of the steps in this book, you would find that.

That is my only issue, and that is the implementation of some of the ideas. I think you could do all of them if you were in a position of some control/management/power but living at the bottom of the totem pole (as I do) I am not 100% control of my “to-do” list. Though I have started using some of the technique and ideas. I have also gotten Zen to Done, Leo Babauta’s modification and implementation of the GTD methods. I am looking forward to trying to use his ideas and methods.
