I saw this article as a headline - front page - on the Philly Inquirer. After reading it, it makes me realize how bass-ackwards PA is on this stuff. It is unbelievable how weird they are about this. I am not even one of those people that think every grocery store and convenience store need to have beer , wine and liquor but the ablity to buy just a 6 pack, at a reasonable price seems common sense. One problem, that I learned from the article, is that bars are required by law to use only 1 distributor. They cannot shop around.
Here’s to hoping what the power of beer can do. I would sure like to go grab a “sixer” of something and not have to pay $13 for a 6 pack of Victory Golden Monkey at a bar.

1“Although it has a ways to go before becoming law, the measure could make it possible for consumers to easily pick up a six-pack virtually anywhere in the state.”
It’s about freakin’ time! I couldn’t believe that I moved from a state where you could buy ONE SINGLE BOTTLE from a convenience store, which are easily found everywhere, to a state where you can only buy a case and have to search out a beer store.

2As I said above, I don’t even need that level of beer-everywhere-ness. I would just like the ability to purchase a smaller amount and at a reasonable cost.
The problem with “beer-everywhere-ness” is that it really only gets BudMillerCoors out there. Sure, you will find a favorite local brew sometimes, but not without an adventure.

3Nice picture ;^)
Anyway, it really only makes sense, I would assume for everyone except for maybe the distributors who have locked in deals. They probably have more pull (more money) and that’s where the kink is. Or possibly some neo-prohibitionist bull-shit holding it up. Whatever, smaller beer sizes at more convienient places only makes sense, period.

4Here is a real kick about the “6-pack” law. It is supported by M.A.D.D - you know them as Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
They claim the case law forces people to buy more beer and thus have more on hand instead of buying the amount they want.
Gotta love a law that has the support of the industry and M.A.D.D.
