I have decided for my “summer reading” to conquer the Harry Potter series. I have never read the books. I figure since the final volume is coming out this summer, I would attempt to read the previous 6 books prior to its release. That way I can get swept up in the hype.

I have also not done well with series that I have to wait between volumes. This will be a no wait situation and I will be much happier as a result.

Some of my concerns are about reading the same author for 6 books. No matter how good they are, you start to become fluent in the author’s writing style. And that can become haggard. I hope they hold up as a result.

Some things I would like to address from a reviewing perspective.

  1. I will not be giving summaries. They are super easy to find and a waste of my time (which will be spent reading these works).
  2. DO NOT Comment on the plots. PLEASE do not tell me “Wait until you see what happens to so-and-so in book-number-14.” I want to be surprised. LET ME:)
  3. I will be commenting in general about the books. I will have to wait and see what shape they take.

I am also going to be keeping a count down of the books and placing that in my handy-dandy sidebar. Along with that, I will have a countdown of until the release of Book 7.

But until then - it will be nothing by Potter.
