Over the weekend I picked up a variety pack from Rock Art Brewery in Vermont. I could see what brews I was getting which included a barley wine, so I was pretty excited. Too bad looks can be deceiving.
The brews and my thoughts:
Strong, Dark and Smooth, hold on to your hat cause you’ll lose your feet on this one!”
Really? I thought this was a pathetic barely wine. YES - it was mild - so mild that I did not think it was a barleywine. I mean Catherine drank it for Pete’s sake!
And last and certainly not least
Overall - very disappointing. BUT there is light at the end of the tunnel… a bitching stout(s) from a small brewery are coming up.

1That’s ashame, but I am glad that you tried them. In all honesty it’s hard for me to buy something new sometimes because of the disappointment factor - and that’s gotta be even harder in PA with having to buy a case. Don’t get me wrong, I love trying new stuff, I just hate wasting money on a risk, but sometimes those risks are what makes it all so interesting. - B

2I agree - and I am more willing to throw the dice on a variety pack verses a case of the same. At least this way I can try 4 and be disappointed 4 times
Have you had any Rock Art? Am I off base and talking out my ass?

3I have only had 1 Rock Art beer, and it was a special beer that the head brewer there gve to the head brewer at Stewart’s who cellared it for 1 year under a golden chicken waiting for the third full moon of an even year blah, blah, blah - but there was some long story that went with it. In all honesty it was ‘alright’. I think it was a Belgian Triple style, not completely sure.
