On my trip to New York yestereday I finished this up. A little breezy read that I am glad I took time out to read.

Summary

Bob Dillon is a down-on-his-luck exterminator from Queens who just wants to make a killing with his radical new environmentally-friendly pest elimination technique, involving his hybrid assassin bugs (a very real group of insects). But when Bob decides to advertise, his flyer falls into the hands of a European murder-for-hire broker who mistakes Bob for a professional assassin. Before he knows it, Bob’s “competition” targets him for extermination, sending him running for his life from a motley collection of the world’s deadliest and most outrageously eccentric contract killers. -from billfitzhugh.com

Opinion

I really like books like this. Funny fast and with action and certain tongue-in-cheek proudly displayed. The story moves along quickly and is very cinematic in the way it is written, nearly begging to be a screenplay. It would translate very well to the screen as the plot and dialogue are witty and paced well. It was optioned in 1995 for a film so keep your eyes peeled (sarcasm meter rising there).

This comes from the same publisher that got me hooked on Billy Chaka by Isaac Adamson, and I have to say looking over the list of “Other titles available” in the back made me want to start my wishlist all over. An enjoyable read. Nothing earth-shattering here but a good time indeed.
