OK I know I have not posted anything in a while. A quick recap you ask? OK
Server Issues
Our webhost ran an upgrade on the 7th that shut down the mail features of Wordpress. After trying to address this at the script level it became clear that the problem was not the script, had to be the server. I opened a support ticket with their technical support group. They made a modification to user rights and POOF email returns. GREAT. Oh wait - now a WHOLE BUNCH of other scripts are failing. HMMM………More tickets. They offer solutions, none of them work. I finally say switch it back, I live without email notification. Well, they can’t do that. UGH. So one tech offersto take the time and change the ownership and privledges for out whole site. That fixed it. It took 4 days to get that sorted out. They almost lost a customer as a result.
Work
The office is hectic. We are getting very close to our move, there is a new sales staff that is hungry, we have production deadlines that are missing and I am still doing all the IT admin work in addtion. Hopefully things will pick up enough soon that we can bring in an additional IT person, preferably a Graphic Artist. I would prefer spending my time on Web and the IT work.
Christmas Shopping
We are nearly done. And it was done in one quick foul swoop on Amazon. I love Amazon Prime. I should have everything right before Thanksgiving. We have 4 or 5 more gifts to get and then we are done. Most of those are responses I am waiting on for ideas for gifts. The only thing about Amazon Prime that I dislike is that it has made me jaded to shipping costs. I even passed on an item, that was a great price, because it was through one of the third party vendors on Amazon. It was going to cost $6.50 to ship it and I just felt ripped off by that.
Holiday Parties
The invites are coming in and so far we are looking good to make it to all of them. It should be fun! I hate when you get invited to too many or at times when something else is going on (see Work above).
Nigel Countdown
It appears that we are down to days until
Scott and Marcia will have a bouncing baby boy. Maybe he will make it for Thanksgiving, maybe we will be having turkey in the hospital. Either way, I only hope for a smooth uneventful delivery and a healthy Nigel and Marcia (ok and Scott too, but he has the easy part here).
Brews and Book Club
We had our intial meeting a week ago and I would say it was a success. Thanks to Scott for hosting It was a blast. We will hopefully get together soon for the next chapter. Up next on our reading list - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
Check out the page at Scooter Chronicles about it.

1I’m glad you’re through your server woes.
I hope your workload levels off, and you can enjoy the coming holiday season. It’s nice being the go-to guy that can do it all, but there comes a time when a little help would be nice too.
I’m glad you’re all wrapped up on the Christmas shopping. I’m a little behind pace from last year, and I put myself at about 80% done right now.
Amena and I are very happy that you can make our holiday shindig. I’m very glad that it fits in your schedule, and I’m looking forward to seeing you and Catherine there.
I hope that Nigel and his parents are united in a warm embrace very soon.
C.S. Lewis in the book club. Cool! What I really enjoy about the Narnia books is the way you can read any one of them apart from the others, and they are great. Then, you can read them all at once, and in order( I don’t know why some of the boxed sets continue to number them incorrectly), and see the storyline thread throughout them all.
Of course, I’d take excerpts of Lewis over completed works of most other authors, so maybe I’m a little biased…
