Review: The Colbert Report

Last night I was lucky enough to catch the premier of the Colbert Report on Comedy Central. It was fantastic. It is the perfect send up. Here is really a picture perfect description from Comedy Central’s website:

What The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is to evening news, The Colbert Report is to personality-driven pundit shows. Colbert brings his sarcastic charm to a half-hour report, tackling the important issues of the day and telling his guests why their opinions are just plain wrong.

Last night Stone Phillips was on (and a good sport). Stephen Colbert was teasing him about how he (Stephen) places his Emmy next to his Peabody, something Stone can’t do.

A great follow to the Daily Show (finally) and a well earned show for Stephen, who has been at this since 1997 on Comedy Central.

The promos for this are great, and I’m sorry I’m at the second job when this comes on. I’m sure I’ll be able to catch reruns, or find it On Demand.

I’ve always enjoyed Colbert’s reports on the Daily Show, and I hope this own show does well.

If for no other reason than he had the guts to make a promo that uses it the phrase “It’s French, bitch!”…
