Over the weekend I performed some surgery. And it was not pretty. We lost the motherboard and processor and video card in our little “accident”. salvageable out of the wreckage - 2 of the 3 hard drives, all the RAM (which I was sure this would be shot) , the CD Burner and the DVD burner. About a 50% loss. At least the data was in tact — well most of it. I lost 2 years worth of email from PRIOR to June of this year. But at this point my machine is a much different beast. I still need to spend some serious time getting the software back in place and the other odds and ends back in place. PLUS I need to get all the mess created off the desk. UGH. But the machine is running. NOW it is a P4 3.2 ghz machine with 1.5 GB of ram. Not too shabby. What is funny is that the only video card I had was a 16mb PCI card. LOL all that tech and I have a 10 year old video card in it. They just don’t make them like that any more.
Now onto getting a new processor MB and video card. YES what I have will fly for now. BUT since this happened might as well look into new stuff. First, the video card - the rest is muscular enough to fly.
BTW - in case you are wondering “This was EXTRA stuff”. Yes - it was my Son’s PC. WOW - you took your kid’s PC - that is pretty heartless. Well, not really - it had been down with a corrupted install of Win 98 for about 2 months. I will build him a new box out of the 1.6ghz Duron box I have. It will be plenty powerful for his needs. I am not a bad guy people.

1Viva La Jogging PC!
I’m glad you were able to get your machine out of the ICU, and into the recovery room.
If you were just building the thing to go play endless hours in some virtual online world, and you stole your son’s PC then that would be wrong.
Such as it is, I’m sure you’ll be able to get your machine swinging, and build another one for him too in no time…

2That would be pretty empty if I was swiping it to go online to play Everquest or one of the other online thingys. I have never played one of them and even if I did imagine that through my burning powerful 16mb PCI Video Card.
Watch OUT!

3You’d be lucky to get a dwarf character to render with that card. Plus, you’ve never struck me as someone that would need to live a digital life instead of the real thing. Not that gaming and things aren’t good distractions sometimes, but all this MMPORG mess is really getting out of hand…
