Yowsa! I just saw the commercial for this thing on the football game, and it’s really a thing of beauty.

Now, if it was just made by someone other than Apple, I might go get one…

I think it is pretty cool. I would be worried about sitting on it but that puppy is SMALL!

I have really come around about Apple. I used to find them obtuse and not my hat. Then OS X was released and all that changed. They have continually impressed me. I am of the converted that my next computer will most likly be a MAC! HARK! I would like to get an iBook. We will see what unfolds.

Wow! That’s pretty brave of you. You know if you utter the “Apple” incantation anywhere on the internet, Google feeds that straight to Bill Gates, and they come by to “deprogram” you.

iBooks are very pretty, and actually have something resembling processing power. At least your laptop would be in the realm of “shiny happy people” like all Apple products.

I don’t think I could ever bring myself around to getting an iPod, just because I don’t like the idea of being forced to use iTunes. It’s a nice interface, but I’m not really big on forced digital music rights, and all the rest that comes with the territory there.

The Nano is most definitely a sweet little bit of pocket candy though…

There are alternatives to iTunes that you can use. There is a plugin (as one example) for Winamp that will allow management of the iPod. I am not a fan of DRM either. It actually lowers the quality of the recordings. Thankfully I have GB after GB of mp3’s (and Ogg Vorbis files - I wish one of these players would support this format!!) on my hard drive already that I legally ripped from my own CD’s.

The idea of processing power is a myth put forward by Intel anyway. They have even stopped pushing the Megahertz numbers in favor of model numbers because it truly is not the defining factor. It’s like talking horsepower and never mention torque. If (and when) I buy an Apple it will be after they move to Intel processors. With enough patience I maybe able to install it on a base “pc-clone” machine.
