[...] David, who is not a big sports fan, POSTED about Jeremy Roenick’s recent rant. He posted the link where he saw the article on the internet. His reaction to JR’s comments are probably what most felt after reading them. Can’t blame anyone either for feeling that way. The shame of it is that the article only has the ending of JR’s comments where he goes on about fans blaming the players for the lockout. The media should be ashamed at themselves for this.
Jeremy is a class act, and I'm willing to cut him some slack, but even out of context, he still said something that he felt strongly.

I can only hope that he gets his chance to play again soon, and they make up for lost time...

I like Jeremy, and out of context does add some "shape" to the quotes. You would know him and his responsesmuch better than I (this is in the Sports and other things I am genetically deficient in). I just find it odd that those things were said. They will disappear into the news of NHL negotiations soon enough.

This first link has a little bit more. Again, it is not all of it. Still can't find it.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/article.jsp;jsessionid=PMNJJFCPJOHE?content=20050625_213504_5688

This one is just another saying that he was upset how the media took the little part they wanted, the part where he bashed the fans.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2096446

Again, not condoning all he said. Jeremy is a guy that wears his heart on his sleeve. He should have kept himself in check.

First of all this article has a MAJOR problem. It doesn't contain all of Jeremy's comments. At the beginning of this he does kiss the fans' asses. He says how they have ruined the sport with this lockout. He says how the game has gotten boring. He says that there is a lot they need to do to bring the fans back. His comments at the end were just from an emotional guy (Jeremy always has been emotional) that had a few drinks, and he is frustrated at the fans that place SOLE BLAME on the players. Have to admit, the owners are just as much to blame for this fiasco.

No, I don't condone what Jeremy said at the end. But all his commnents prior to this suggested a man that would cross the line to play at any price. He let his frustration get the better of him, and he shouldn't have. He said some things that he shouldn't have. But this has been a trying time for everyone involved, and that is including us the fans.

I agree with all you are saying. I read the article and all I heard was a cry-baby.

I love the sport and it is one of the few that attending it is something special and I can even tolate on TV. But the apple polishers need to get their ducks in a roiw for this to work. I would love to see $25 tickets for games. Something to put butts in the seats.

I liked Roenick, but he's trying very hard to make me rethink that.

It's hard to take a guy seriously who's comfortable enough to be playing a charity golf tournament.

I'm not saying that hockey isn't a wonderful sport, and that the players aren't great athletes. I just think that if you're going to play games to get more money, and you take the tact of "I'm going to take my puck and go home", then you deserve for your sport to regress back to something more homegrown and low key.

I have a sinking feeling that even if they get the NHL back anytime soon, they've lost a good portion of their fans and viewers to this ploy.

Which is a shame, because hockey is really a great sport to watch, and play. It's a shame that it is taking another blow to it's chances of real popularity in all of this.

I suppose I'm a little biased, just because it's one of the few sports where fighting is a nightly occurance, and even encouraged.

God, I miss it...
