1I gave Jonathan Strange to KA for Christmas. Neither of us have read it yet, but I’m looking forward to it.

3Thanks for the plug.
I also have read books by the other 4 authors. The one by Banks I really want to read. I have enjoyed everything that I have read of his (5 books). His sci-fi is very space opera, but he is also very dark and whimsical. He has written many mainstream and horror books.

4I also read Predido Street Station back in August 2004 and enjoyed it throughly. I am hoping Iron Council is a good ride. Of course I want to read The Scar first - maybe. Any word on the Algebraist? Sounds interesting.
This is my review of PSS from August.

5None that I know of David. It just sounded interesting to me, and I like Banks’ work.
Found out that “River of Gods” just won the Arthur C. Clarke award for best novel. Might take it out of the running. In the history of the ACCA, no novel has won both it and the Hugo. (And I know that sounds like a geeky sports stat ……… “He is batting .784 with runners on second and third on Wednesday games at home when it is sunny.”)
