DVD Review: A Door in the Floor
We watched an interesting film tonight, The Door in the Floor. It is based on the novel “A Widow for One Year” by John Irving. It covers the first third of the book. No more. Interesting. Catherine and I both enjoyed it. It is artistic and “literal” - has the feel of a writers film. It is never slow and often you are confused about how you want to feel about the characters and their actions. You grow to be sympathetic and angry and sad at the characters.
I think Jeff Bridges turns in a excellent performance and Kim Basinger is very good as well. I rented it based on a review of Jeff Bridges performance. I enjoyed it. If you are looking for something a little slower in pace but longer in character, check it out.
