Again - They are not from Ohio and they are not named after the drummer (who is named Eddie).

This is the band’s ninth studio album and finds two changes. One, they have a new producer. Billy Wolf has produced their previous 8 albums. This one is produced by Lloyd Maines. He produced the last Dixie Chicks album so they bringing in a big time player. Also, we have the appearance of electric instruments for the first time (really significantly at least) on an EFO album. Personally the first item bothers me more than the second. My reasoning is in the “change” of the sound on the first 5 tracks. They are fine songs, but they seem to be produced differently than the last 10 tracks. I cannot put my finger on it, and that does create a very vague “Cause I said so factor” but it is my feeling.

The other “problem” I have is the track order. It is not ordered well at all, at least until the end. The album finishes great. Stand out tracks are Fly, Horse, The Bird (see an animal theme here?) and Lady Freedom.

Check out the EFO web site, you can get a GREAT idea of what they are and what they sound like as their new uber-bitchin flash site has a radio built in that allows you to listen to 24 tracks, from all their albums. Very nice.
