Today is father’s day and I as a father enjoyed the wonderful day with my son and my father. It was nice to have both of them there and it made me feel wonderful. Of course, to make this happen involved a 3 hour drive down and back in one day. We spent almost as much time there as on the road (8 hours there, 6 on the road).

I received a wonderful book written and illustrated by my son and a framed drawing and poem. It was very touching.

Here is nice history of Father’s Day. Gives you the story behind it and why it was not created by Hallmark to move merchandise (controny to some peoples thoughts).

Down side, Neither my mother or my father or my sister wished me a Happy Father’s day. My brother did :). I guess I just find validation in it and it makes me feel like they appreciate another aspect of me that is really my primary focus now. From my parents especially it is important, yet never seems to happen - this is year 6 with out them saying anything.
