We decided to bit the bullet and get a new digital camera. I then went on the hunt for information about them so we get the most bang for the buck. We settled on the Canon Powershot S50. We have had it about a week so I will give an initial impression. I will write a fuller review in about a week after our Williamsburg trip. I will include photos then too so you can see the photo quality.

We wanted a camera that had enough high end/tech/manual override features to keep me happy but was simple enough to use so that Catherine could turn it on and snap pictures. I truly believe we succeeded.

So far the picture quality rocks and the camera has worked like a dream.

Some simple upgrades we will get eventually.

1. Bigger Memory card. We have a 64MB card and on the highest setting will take about 40 pics. I would like a 512MB card.
2. Extra Battery. It does use a proprietary Canon battery and the charge lasts a long time and we have not had it die at a critical moment, but with vacations and trips coming having an extra will be a good idea.
